Choosing the right surgeon for you is the most important decision you make. In the UK anyone with a medical degree is licensed by law to perform ‘cosmetic’ surgery. The General Medical Council has a list of surgeons who have met the requirements that allow them to be on the Plastic Surgery Specialist Register. This should be checked via the GMC website.
As a start consult your GP. If you have confidence in your GP, then you will have confidence in the surgeon he or she recommends. Personal recommendation through friends or relatives can also be helpful. Few surgeons feel the need to advertise in the Yellow Pages or glossy magazines. There are several large cosmetic surgery chains which offer very cheap surgery. You might want to reflect on why their prices are so low. |
